MIA FERREIRAWEDDINGS

Portfolio

Selected weddings.

A few of the weddings I've planned and coordinated. Every photograph is from the day itself.

Sharon & Ryan

The weekend began with a welcome dinner in the courtyard of Quinta da Conceição.

Sharon and Ryan married at the Igreja do Castelo de Sesimbra, a church that echoed the Portuguese churches of India, where Sharon's parents had lived. During the mass, the priest blessed a sari, Ryan's mother's gift to Sharon.

Back at the quinta came brass, percussion and a champagne tower, then dinner at long candlelit tables.

Jane & Dara

Jane and Dara asked for a wedding that felt like a holiday for their two hundred guests. Blue ran quietly through the day, in the bridesmaids' dresses and the hydrangeas.

At their midday mass in the Igreja de Alvor, a poem was read in Irish to the sound of a flute, and a friend who had flown in from Australia sang.

Afterwards, at Monte das Alagoas, a painter moved through the gardens, capturing guests in watercolour.

Louise & Philip

Ease came first for Louise and Philip, from Ireland, so everything stayed close to Vilamoura. A classic car carried them up to the church steps at Estoi, and portraits followed on the tiled staircases of the Palácio de Estoi.

On the way to dinner, one coach made an unplanned stop beside a village café. No one was in a hurry to leave.

At Os Agostos, each table danced its way in to its own song. And in place of a wedding cake, a tower of pastéis de nata.

Laura & Alexis

Laura and Alexis's palette began in greens and ended in vivid pinks and oranges, chosen over two years of planning to answer the warm walls of Solar do Paço.

They married at the Igreja de São Lourenço in Almancil, lined in blue azulejos, with a French priest and a French photographer so everyone felt at home.

Guests arrived past photographs from their engagement shoot in Ferragudo, into coloured smoke and saxophone by the Japanese garden. The night ended with fireworks.
